Individual interviews were conducted to collect data from 180 households in eight Kebeles. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a rank order assessment technique. The results revealed that the three most important sources of information, in order, were fellow farmers, family members and the Office of Agriculture. Strengthening the utilization of information from a variety of sources by farmers is required. This is possible through establishing community radio stations, starting adult education programs and building the capacity of extension agents in terms of skills and the provision of transportation facilities. |
